EU Projects: GAEA Launches Its New Digital Tools to Empower Women in Agriculture
One of the projects funded by the European Union (EU) in which SkillLab participates has reached an important milestone! The GAEA project, which stands for Granting Access to Employment and Entrepreneurship in Agriculture for Women, recently launched its new digital tools. Throughout 2024, SkillLab and other participating organizations worked intensively to develop the GAEA application and the GAEA platform. These two components are interlinked and designed with a very specific target group in mind, namely (NEET) women and women with a migrant background living in Europe and interested in the agricultural sector, as well as various stakeholders interested in their empowerment. These digital tools serve as a support package to open their individual path to their career interest in the agricultural and agribusiness field.

The GAEA Skills-Based Application
The GAEA application is a mobile application designed to support women to orient themselves specifically in the field of agriculture. The application is built with the ESCO (European Skills, Competences, Qualifications and Occupations) taxonomy at its core, focusing only on agricultural occupations. It allows women to capture their skills from work, education and life experiences using the taxonomy as a reference. They receive career and training recommendations in agriculture and agribusiness based on their individual skills profiles and can generate a CV tailored to their target career in different languages.
The GAEA Platform
The GAEA platform consists of various features that aim to upskill women for agripreneurship careers and pave the way for employment in the agricultural sector. Interested women, as well as trainers and mentors, can access training modules and educational resources developed by the GAEA project to build their agribusiness skills. They can also browse apprenticeship opportunities and connect with potential employers offering internships. In addition, the platform allows them to connect with various stakeholders to gain real-world experience and advance their careers.
Other stakeholders such as employers, mentors and policy makers in the agricultural sector also benefit from the GAEA platform. Employers can search a pool of qualified training candidates and network with other SMEs and industry experts, fostering business growth and collaboration. Mentors have access to educational materials to support newcomers to the agricultural sector and keep up to date with best practices in the field. Finally, policymakers can meet and collaborate with other stakeholders across the agribusiness sector to create impactful programs.
Get the Whole Experience of the GAEA Digital Tools!
Although both tools can be used separately, interested women will only experience the full support of the GAEA project if they use both tools together. Therefore, the tools are designed to work together. As they receive training recommendations in the application, they can enroll in the courses hosted on the GAEA platform. Women accessing the digital tools from the platform will also be able to access the GAEA application when they create their apprentice profiles and upload their CVs. They can create a skills-based CV using the GAEA application. The link between the application and the platform ensures that they do not miss out on the support offered by the GAEA project.
